About Ordnance Factory Tiruchirappalli

Ordnance Factory Tiruchirapalli (OFT) was inaugurated by Late.Smt.Indira Gandhi, the then Prime Minister of India on 3rd July 1966 with a view to increase the capacity of Small Arms production. OFT started with 9mm carbines in 1967 and in the 1970’s OFT started manufacturing 7.62 mm Rifles. Later during the 1990’s this factory started manufacturing a 12.7 mm Air Defence Gun & 30 mm Cannon which was elevated as a medium calibre weapon manufacturing unit.

On 14th August 2021 Ordnance Factory Board was corporatized into 7 Defence Public Sector Units. OFT becomes part of AWEIL, which is headquartered in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh since then.

Apprenticeship Details

Ordnance Factory, Tiruchirappalli is a leading manufacturing organization of small arms and medium calliper weapons under the Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence, invites Online applications from Indian citizens in coordination with the Board of Apprenticeship Training (SR), Chennai from eligible Graduates & Diploma holders in engineering and Non-Engineering Graduates passed out prior to Dec-2020 are not eligible.

Eligibility Criteria

• Engineering Diploma
  • Mechanical, Electrical & Electronics, Civil, Electronics & Communication, and Computer Science
• Engineering Graduate-BE/BTech
  • Mechanical, Electrical & Electronics, Civil, Electronics & Communication, and Computer Science
• Non-Engineering Graduate (BSc/BA/BBA/B.Com/BCA)
  • Physics / Chemistry / Maths Computer Science & Applications / English / History / Economics/ Business Administration/ Statistics/ Biotech
• Must have passed in Diploma/Graduate.
• The gap between the year of passing and the date of joining should not be more than 3 years and candidates who passed out prior to Dec-2020 are not eligible

Engagement Procedure

Candidates have to register in the apprenticeship portal www[dot]mhrdnats[dot]gov[dot]in before applying (not applicable for BA/135c/B.Com/BBA/BCA).

The Candidates will be called for document verification at Ordnance Factory Tiruchirappalli with hardcopy of the online application (applied) and registration of apprentice portal along with the following documents (original certificate 2 sets of Xerox copy)

• S.S.L.0/X th Mark sheet
• H.S.C/XII th Marksheet, if applicable.
• Graduates/Diploma Certificate.
• Original or provisional Engineering/ Diploma Certificate.
• Community Certificate
• Passport size photo -5 Nos.
• Original photo ID – Aadhaar
